How To Pack Books for Moving

This is more of a referral for me for when I move to the UK, hopefully within the year. I have around 400 books in the house I grew up in so how am I going to transfer them when I create a very cool English library??

The biggest concern is finding the right boxes–medium sized cardboard ones with extra tape to keep from falling apart under the weight should do.

To pack hardcover books, you should stand them up, spine against the side as if it is a bookshelf. Paperbacks can be stacked flat or spine first. Adding wadded paper in the gaps can prevent book damage.

Another fun tip is to organize books by size and weight, putting heavier books on the bottom, medium in the middle, and lighter at the top. This makes packing and carrying those boxes easier.

Another tip I see everywhere is to get rid of some books. *nervous laughter* I am getting rid of about 100, hencey why I’m back down to 400, but I don’t think I can part with more! When the time comes, we’ll see how it goes.
